Repurposed Finds

 
At the flea market last summer I came across a dozen or so of these vintage rattan drink holders. I loved their texture and muted bits of color woven throughout. But since then it's been fruitless trying to find glasses to fit inside so I thought..why not repurpose them and use them to hold crudite or appetizers?

And of course, this lead me to think about other small containers that would be just as charming and unique. Like berry crates in wood or colored cardboard.

 
They make the perfect size for guests to hold while nibbling and look pretty all lined up on a buffet. To keep them food safe I just line them with natural parchment paper which also makes it convenient for cleanup and reusing later.

This summer I plan on serving up mini desserts of fruit and cookies for my guests. Or I could use them for little bites of cake or pie. Or...I could fill them with eggs for my neighbors. Why, the possibilities are endless!

Abandonment Issues

 While I was away on location in Tennessee I came across this old abandoned house. I'm sure during it's hey day it was filled with charm and old fashioned goodness. It's a shame to see it in such shambles now. But on the other hand it's a salvage pickers dream. The front door alone would be worth a truck drive back. 

 
Behind the house was an outbuilding still hanging on to it's red tin roof. I can just see it filled with the owners garden tools and implements including a fancy push lawn mower. I'm guessing this since it was much too small for a tractor.

 
 And did you notice the porch was once painted a beautiful gray color? It's so on trend now that we've probably forgotten we didn't come up with the idea. What's old is new again.

Lonely Farm Table: Chairs Wanted

 While I was away from the homestead, The Man built this farm table for our patio. I've been wanting a dark wood table with simple, clean lines to use for outdoor entertaining and he just whipped one up! Gotta love that guy!

Now here's where we need your help. We can't decide on chairs. We've narrowed it down to three choices and would love for you to let us know which option you think would look best!

Farm Chicks Recap

 
Well, I'm back from a fantastic long weekend trip to The Farm Chicks Show. The vendors were amazing! The crowds of shoppers were friendly and eager to buy and the weather was gorgeous. Couldn't have asked for anything more. I know you're eager to see photos so I'll leave you with that. The Completely Random List

 
Sometimes it's hard to find the time to write a detailed post, anyone relate? Personally, I have always been a fan of list posts. They're quick & easy for both parties involved. :-) So today I'm doing just that along with my cell phone shots. 

1. Took a quick road trip with The Man to a magical place in the country. The wildflowers seemed on fire with color!

    
2. It was only 30 minutes from the Danish Capital of the US where there is practically a pastry shop on every corner.

  
3. Their display cases were filled with tempting treats. We resisted...but brought home tubs of fresh butter cookies to our family. They were soooo happy!

  
4. I've noticed that turquoise jewelry keeps jumping in my shopping cart. Whether I'm at an antique store, Target or The Gap...I'm drawn to it lately.

 
5. It's strawberry season! This year I'm making jam. I say that every year but this time I mean it.

  
6. And I signed an amazing contract this week that nearly made my heart skip a beat! Couldn't be more thrilled!
